AGM 2010
Change of Acting Chair:
Our acting Chair Candia Carolan has stepped down and hand over to our new Chair
Richard Lawson. We would like to thank Candia for all her help and support
while she has been our acting Chair and we are very glad that she will be
remaining as part of our trustees committee. We would also like to thank
Richard for accepting the position of Chair.
"What's new with Benzodiazepines and Z drugs.Trouble, tolerance and long-term treatments" A talk by Dr
Fergus Law:
We would like to thank Dr
Fergus Law, a consultant psychiatrist at Bristol Specialist Drugs and Alcohol
Services, for his interesting talk this year. As he mentioned at the start of
his talk, his ideas and those of BAT are very different, which came to light
with your questions after his presentation. We would like to thank all those how asked questions for their input.
Entertainment:
Performance poet Steven
Duncan was kind enough to write a poem about benzo
addiction and read this along with one of his other poems. His performance was
amazing and we have lots of positive feed back about
him. Hopefully we will be able to add copies of both poems "Benzodiazepine" and "Addiction" to our website for everyone to read. We are very grateful to him
for coming to our AGM.
Finally a bit of a laugh:
Some of you may know David
Dicks he is a long term service user who has been on television interviews
about benzoaddiction, he
sometimes runs our Southmead group and is now a
volunteer on our new Helpline. For the last four years he has been trying to
get a plain cheese sandwich at our AGM so that he can have something to eat and
this year he got it!!
