All benzodiazepines (and the 'Z' drugs listed) act similarly but also differ, particularly in the length of time they remain in the blood. The dosage required to produce similar effects can vary greatly.

Some benzos are changed by the human system into another active compound or active metabolite. This usually has a longer half life as shown in the right-hand column.
